Our Story

It all started when three high school friends decided to catch up in a Steak 'n Shake (not a sponsor) after feeling lost in their studies and personal lives. Danny, recovering from a rough, long-term relationship, called up Ryan and Grayson with hopes of reconnecting and potentially starting something new. Ryan, having over-scheduled himself in college, felt relieved to sit back with friends and enjoy the time together. Grayson was excited to meet up and reconnect with friends in the hope of finding the him he felt he had lost.

The meeting began as any awkward get-together, full of weird hugs, hello's, and laughter. And, it went on for a bit like a sad lament of everyone's woes and struggles. But, as the best of friends always do, after the pity-partying, it was like no time had passed at all; like it was just another day in high school. It was at this time that Danny, having concealed his proposition thus far, decided to let the cat out of the bag. "Would you guys like to start a theatre company?"

Less surprised than Danny had anticipated, Ryan and Grayson had some questions about practicality. And, after a long night of back and forth, debate, and discussion, they finally said yes. That night, they began The PC Trinity Theatre Company. And, what did they agree on? Two by Two! ...then Little Shop of Horrors... and then The Wedding Singer... but then they finally landed on a play that would not completely empty their wallets: Let Him Sleep 'Til It's Time for His Funeral by Peg Kehret! Many meetings between themselves and the Plain City Counsel later, they not only had a script, but a stage. An outside stage, but a stage. Now, all they had to do was hold auditions, cast, and get a show going! Well, it wasn't that easy...

Auditions were a bit underwhelming with only seven people auditioning for the eight characters needed. Whether it was due in part to the audition location being Ryan's garage, or the fact that the three had yet to prove to the community that they could do what they had set out to, they still do not know. However, those seven students were committed. And, while the three had felt a little discouraged by the small turn-out, they did not give up.

Two weeks before the performance, things were running tight. The set still needed built, wood still needed bought, and there was still no one to play the eighth role. Thankfully, stage manager Ally was able to talk her sister, Karlie, into taking over the role. They were both good friends of the three in high school, and it was largely because of them that the show went on. Now, with an eighth actor, all that was left to do was promote and finish the set.

Money was becoming very tight for the three, but they knew they had to finish what they started; they owed it to themselves and the actors. They had a completed set right before the performance. And, after long, late-night rehearsals in the park, they finally had a show ready. During their limited three-night run, they had a full house every night, totaling to about 40+ in attendance every performance. But, $580 out of pocket, how would the company continue?

Thanks to the generous donations of friends and family, they raised a total of $130+ to put towards the program going forward. Now, the program is in partnerships with the village administartion of Plain City, supported by the Parks & Rec department, involved in the new Arts Council, and partially housed by Buckeye Brass & Winds. Finally, Danny, Ryan, and Grayson can continue their dream of nurturing performing arts in their community through their theatre company.
